4 Days Tanzania Standard Safari

Description

Tour Overview

This 4-day standard Tanzania safari is the perfect introduction to the wildlife wonders of northern Tanzania. You will explore three iconic destinations: Tarangire National Park with its ancient baobab trees and huge elephant herds; the lush Lake Manyara National Park, famous for tree-climbing lions; and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most beautiful natural wonders on Earth.

As you travel through the dramatic Great East African Rift Valley, you’ll enjoy diverse landscapes, rich birdlife, and incredible big game sightings. This private safari offers excellent flexibility, you can choose budget, mid-range, or luxury accommodation to suit your preferences and budget.

The journey begins in Tarangire, often called a “mini Serengeti” because of its abundant wildlife. You then visit Lake Manyara, where you may spot elephants, troops of baboons, and the famous tree-climbing lions. The highlight is the Ngorongoro Crater, a vast caldera where thousands of animals live year-round in a stunning, self-contained ecosystem.

As a locally owned Arusha-based tour operator, Kiwoito Africa Safaris specializes in private safaris with experienced Tanzanian guides who know these parks inside out. You travel in a comfortable, well-maintained safari Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof for excellent game viewing, a charging system, reference books, a mini fridge, and plenty of bottled water.

Whether you are a first-time visitor or returning to Tanzania, this 4-day safari delivers breathtaking scenery, close wildlife encounters, and warm, personal service. It’s ideal for couples, small families, or anyone who wants a shorter but high-quality safari experience.

Best time to travel: June to October and January to March for the clearest views and easiest game spotting.

Day-by-Day Breakdown

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After a warm welcome in Arusha, we pick you up and drive toward Tarangire National Park (about 2 hours). This beautiful park is famous for its massive elephant herds and thousands of ancient baobab trees that dot the landscape like giant sculptures.

You will enjoy a full day of game drives with your expert guide, who will help you spot lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, buffalos, and many antelope species. The Tarangire River attracts plenty of wildlife, especially during the dry season.

In the late afternoon, we head to your chosen accommodation for a relaxing evening and dinner.

Accommodation: Mid-range option – Motto Cottage (or similar, depending on your choice)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Tarangire Area to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, we drive a short distance to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day of game viewing. This park is a true gem, with a mix of groundwater forest, acacia woodland, and the alkaline Lake Manyara.

Highlights often include large troops of baboons, elephants, giraffes, and the famous tree-climbing lions that rest in the branches of acacia trees. The lake shore is usually filled with flamingos and other water birds. Your guide will take you to the best spots for photography and wildlife sightings.

In the evening, relax at your comfortable lodge.

Day 3: Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater

Today we drive up to the Ngorongoro Crater rim, where your first view of this vast caldera will take your breath away. The crater stretches 19 km across – a green, fertile bowl teeming with wildlife.

We descend 600 meters to the crater floor for a full day of game drives. Here you can see black rhinos, lions, spotted hyenas, large herds of zebra and wildebeest, buffalos, hippos in the lakes, and flamingos. The density of animals is extraordinary, and the scenery is simply stunning.

Late afternoon we drive back up to the crater rim for sunset views and a relaxing evening at your lodge.
