Tour Overview
Tanzania camping safaris immerse you right in the heart of the wild, where you sleep under endless stars surrounded by the sounds of Africa at night, and this 5-day group-joining camping safari suits solo travelers or anyone with a tight budget and limited time since you join a small friendly group, keeping costs low while the experience feels welcoming and shared as you first explore Tarangireโs iconic baobab trees and massive elephant herds, then visit Lake Manyara to spot tree-climbing lions before reaching the vast Serengeti plains and finally descending into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, a true natural wonder where you can also add a cultural stop at a Maasai village in the Ngorongoro Highlands for authentic local insights, and our Arusha-based guides handle camp setup, cook meals, and share their deep knowledge, making everything easy, fun, and relaxed with most time spent comfortably in the vehicle and very little walking required, while this safari runs year-round, wildlife viewing stays good always, yet the dry season from June to October brings the best sightings as animals gather at water sources, vegetation thins, and the Great Migration peaks in Serengeti.

Day-by-day breakdown
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park (โ 2.5-hour drive)
We pick you up in Arusha and drive straight to Tarangire National Park, where this special place features towering ancient baobab trees, some standing for thousands of years, while huge elephant herds roam freely across landscapes that boast one of the highest elephant populations in northern Tanzania, and during the dry season, animals cluster along the river allowing you to spot zebras, wildebeest, buffalos, giraffes, impalas, and predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas, all against stunning southern scenery and impressive northern termite mounds, with bird lovers enjoying over 550 species before we reach camp after full game drives so you can set up, enjoy dinner by the fire, and relax under the stars at Kizumba Public Campsite with basic shared facilities in a scenic location on full board (lunch and dinner).
Day 2: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park (โ 30-minute drive)
After breakfast you head a short distance to Lake Manyara National Park, hugging the dramatic Rift Valley wall where the lush groundwater forest stays green year-round, letting you first spot olive baboons and elephant herds, then buffalos, zebras, giraffes, hippos, and especially the famous tree-climbing lions lounging high in acacia branches as flamingos sometimes turn the alkaline lake pink amid over 450 bird species while your guide picks the best relaxed viewpoints for game drives before returning to camp in the late afternoon for dinner and a peaceful evening at Kizumba Public Campsite on full board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
Day 3: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park (โ 4-hour drive)
Breakfast starts the day, then you pack picnic lunches and drive via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying en route game viewing before finally entering Serengeti National Park, whose name means “endless plains” in Maasai, as vast grasslands stretch forever, and during migration season huge wildebeest and zebra herds concentrate here with predators trailing them, allowing Big Five sightings plus many carnivores and birds of prey. Afternoon game drives immerse you fully, then camp setup and dinner under the stars follow at Nyani Public Campsite in the Seronera area with basic shared facilities and a true wilderness feel on full board, plus an optional Maasai village visit available for extra cultural insights.
Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti + Transfer to Ngorongoro (โ 3 hours drive)
You rise early for coffee or tea, then join a prime morning game drive when predators often hunt at dawn before returning for brunch, packing up and continuing Serengeti viewing until around noon, after which you drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where Maasai pastoralists live alongside wildlife in an area connected to Serengeti, with Ndutu seeing seasonal calving between December and April as you reach camp on the crater rim for dinner and cool refreshing highland air at Simba Public Campsite with basic facilities and possible wildlife visitors on full board.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Tour + Return to Arusha (โ 2.5-hour drive)
You descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater, the worldโs largest intact caldera, where wildlife concentrates densely, letting you see black rhinos, lions, elephants, buffalos, antelopes, and more in close-up views during a half-day tour, perhaps with a picnic before ascending the rim and driving back to Arusha, arriving in time for your departure flight or next plans, marking the end of your safari filled with incredible memories.
