This safari starts when we meet you at Kilimanjaro international airport JRO/Arusha airport and transfer to Mt. Meru Game lodge & sanctuary in the suburb of Arusha city. Later our safari manager will come for a detailed safari briefing before living you to enjoy the beautiful weather of Arusha & the animal sanctuary.

Day 0

Arrival in Arusha

On arrival at Kilimanjaro international airport, JRO/Arusha airport meet our representative & transfer to Mount Meru Game Lodge & sanctuary in Arusha. Later our safari manager will come for a detailed safari briefing & leave you to enjoy the lodge’s facilities & the game sanctuary.

Day1

Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Distance: 130 km

Non – game-viewing time: 2 – 3 hrs.

After breakfast depart for Tarangire National Park for a game drive. First, you will stop in Arusha Town for any last-minute purchases before heading to Tarangire. The driving is along Masai steppe, shopping centers & many villages.

Tarangire is famous for its huge Baobab trees & large elephant population, you may expect to spot heads of, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippos, baboons, many antelopes & the giant African elephant. For bird watchers, Tarangire is the place over 400 bird species have been recorded here which includes the rare species of Ash Starling, Greater Kudu & fringed Eared Oryx are also among rare animal species found in the Park.

Predators like lion, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals & the ever-mysterious leopard also inhabit this park. Tarangire Park forms the central annual migratory cycle within Tarangire Lake Manyara ecosystem which includes up to 3000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest, and about 30,000 zebra. Late afternoon drive to Sangaiwe Tented Lodge close to the park for sunset watching, dinner & overnight.

Day2

Tarangire – Lake Manyara National Park

Distance:  50 km

 Non – game-viewing time: 1 hour.

After breakfast depart for Lake Manyara National Park & start a game drive after check-in. Lake Manyara National Park is placed in a dramatic location & it is endowed with a lot of underground streams which makes it green throughout the year. At the base of the Great East African Rift Valley, the park has beautiful overlapping habitats hence sporting much wildlife which includes a high concentration of baboons found nowhere else in the world, beautiful flocks of flamingos, hippos, giraffe, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra & many antelopes. Lake Manyara tree-climbing lion is among the beautiful features of this park. In the afternoon drive to Lake Eyasi and visit the Datoga tribe & the blacksmith, the late afternoon you will walk along the Lakeshore while watching the sunset then drive to Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge for dinner & overnight.

Day3

Lake Eyasi – Serengeti National park

Distance: 132 km

Non – game-viewing time: 3 – 4 hrs.

On this day you will depart for early morning hunting with Bushmen including tuition on survival skills. Bushman is an indigenous tribe that inhabits the area around Lake Eyasi, this tribe is divided into three clans of Hadzabe, Tindiga & Datoga “The blacksmith”.

The bushman leaves in hunting and gathering of eggs, fruits & tubers pretty much the same as people who lived during the Stone Age. Afterward, you will come back to the camp for a full breakfast before departing for Serengeti National park, drive along the Great Rift Valley and across the beautiful high lying farmlands of Karatu and along the Crater rim of Ngorongoro.

You will stop at the viewpoint of the Crater for a nice picture of the crater floor from the rim. On the way you will visit one of the Masai villages for some cultural encounter, some Masai worrier will invite you & take you in and around their houses you will meet some kids & other family members, you may ask as many questions as you can. Later they will sing & dance to their favorite songs which involve high jumping. If you wish you can join the dancing.

Afterward, drive down into the heart of the “wild Africa” Serengeti National park with its endless rolling plains. Break for picnic lunch at Naabi Hills Gate or at the Kopjes (Rocky outcropping) when heading to the Central Serengeti area called Seronera. This is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park endowed with Seronera River the valuable water supply in this area hence attracts a vast number of wildlife around the Serengeti. Afternoon game drive in search of the Great Wildebeest Migration (this will depend on travel dates). Late afternoon drive to Thorn trees Camp for dinner & overnight.

Day4&5

Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti

Spend 2 precious days in the Great Serengeti, on these days of your 7 days Tanzania lodge Safari (if you wish) as early as 06:30 with a packed breakfast box & lunch box you will do early morning game drives in the endless rolling plains of Serengeti. Early morning game drive can allow you to spot cat family on the road as they avoid morning mist. You may also expect to see other nocturnal predators coming back from their long night of hunting or a group of lioness organizing morning ambush or eating along the road after, you will break for breakfast in the bush.

Serengeti National park is the scene of the Great Wildebeest Migration, so they will be in Serengeti your safari driver guide will have already know so the early start will take you straight to where they are & spend much time with the herds anticipating see animal actions like eating, fighting even killing. You may also expect to spot other predators like leopard, hyena, cheetah & jackals. Herds of buffalo, elephants, giraffe warthog, zebra & many antelopes can also be spotted wandering around the plains of Serengeti.

Packed lunch can be served at the picnic site or somewhere in the bush. This is a full day game drive in Serengeti where you will return back to your campsite before or during sunset for dinner & overnight at Thorn Trees Camp

Day 6

Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Distance: 145 km 

Non – game-viewing time: 3 – 4 hrs.

Early start, if you wish 06:30 am with packed breakfast box then back to your campsite for early hot lunch before heading to Ngorongoro Conservation Area with en-route game drive. Arrive at Rhino Lodge for sunset watching, dinner & overnight.

  • Overnight at Rhino Lodge located at the Crater rim or similar at Karatu Town.
Day 7

Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha – Airport

Distance: 220 km

Non – game-viewing time: 3 – 4 hrs.

As early as 06:30 after breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters high walls into the crater floor for a wonderful game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is referred to by many as the 8th nature wonder of the world, the crater was formed some 3 million years ago due to some internal forces under the earth’s crust. It is a Caldera but mistakenly is called a Crater, supported by a year-round water supply & fodder, Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a big number of animal species, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, topi, eland, hippos, warthog & giant African elephant.

Another big drawcard to this unique Crater is the dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs & the ever-mysterious leopard, which sometimes need a sharp eye to spot. You will drive to Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline Lake in the southwestern corner, occasionally visited by flamingos, hippos & many aquatic birds. Late afternoon drives out and back to Arusha City for overnight or drop off at Kilimanjaro international airport JRO. (Accommodation on this day can be included upon request at extra cost.)
