You will enjoy fantastic game drives in Tarangire National Park (famous for its huge elephant herds and baobab trees), the endless plains of the Serengeti, and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. This itinerary also includes a visit to the scenic Lake Manyara area on the first day.
As a locally owned Arusha-based operator, Kiwoito Africa Safaris specializes in private budget camping safaris. We make them fun, flexible, and truly enjoyable for families, friends, and small groups. You travel in a comfortable 4×4 safari vehicle with an experienced English-speaking Tanzanian guide who knows the parks intimately and will help you spot the Big Five and many other animals.
You stay in public campsites with basic but clean facilities, and our crew sets up comfortable tents, provides mattresses, and cooks fresh, tasty meals for you every day. It’s a real bush experience, falling asleep to the sounds of the African night while keeping costs affordable.
This 5-day camping safari is ideal for first-time visitors to Tanzania who want great wildlife sightings without spending a fortune. The best time to travel is during the dry seasons (June–October and January–March), when animals are easier to spot.
Come with us and immerse yourself in Tanzania’s breathtaking nature, dramatic landscapes, and incredible wildlife. We promise warm hospitality, knowledgeable guides, and memories that will last a lifetime, all at excellent value.
Day-by-Day Breakdown
Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
Your safari begins after breakfast in Arusha. We drive about 2–3 hours through scenic countryside to Lake Manyara National Park.
This small but incredibly diverse park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large flocks of flamingos along the lake shore, and a beautiful mix of groundwater forest and savanna woodland. You can expect to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalos, and over 100 species of birds.
Enjoy a full day of game drives with your guide, who will share fascinating insights about the animals and the ecosystem. In the late afternoon, we head to the public campsite for a hot shower, dinner prepared by our cook, and your first night under the stars.
Accommodation: Manyara Public Campsite
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 2: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, we drive toward the world-famous Serengeti, passing along the Ngorongoro Crater rim with stunning viewpoints. The landscape slowly changes as you descend onto the endless rolling plains of the Serengeti , “the place where the land runs on forever.”
We head to the central Seronera area, a wildlife-rich zone with the Seronera River that attracts large numbers of animals. This is a great place to witness predator action, lions hunting, hyenas scavenging, or cheetahs on the prowl.
Enjoy a packed lunch in the bush, perhaps near rocky kopjes, followed by an afternoon and sunset game drive. Look out for the Great Migration herds if your travel dates coincide with their movement.
Accommodation: Nyani Public Campsite, Central Serengeti
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3: Full Day in Serengeti National Park
Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the Serengeti. With a full day of game drives, your guide will take you to the best areas based on recent animal movements.
The vast plains offer incredible opportunities to see lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and countless antelopes. You may also spot the Big Five in one day. We enjoy a bush picnic lunch and continue with afternoon drives, searching for exciting wildlife action.
As the sun sets over the acacia-dotted savannah, return to camp for a delicious dinner around the campfire.

Day 4: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, we leave the Serengeti and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You descend 600 meters into the crater floor for a full day of game viewing in this incredible natural amphitheater.
The Ngorongoro Crater is a wildlife paradise with permanent water and fresh grass that supports huge herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, and Thomson’s gazelle. It is also one of the best places in Africa to see black rhinos in the wild. Predators are plentiful: lions, spotted hyenas, jackals, and the elusive leopard.
Don’t miss Lake Magadi, where hippos wallow and flamingos often gather. Late in the afternoon, we drive up to the crater rim for sunset views.
