Arusha Activities – Departure
Your adventure will begin in Arusha, Tanzania, which serves as the gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met and transported to Under the Shade Lodge. This is a peaceful lodge where you can rest after your flight. The night is set aside for rest, dinner, and a briefing on the coming days.
Accommodation: Under the Shade
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The next morning, your guide will drive you to Arusha National Park. This park is often overlooked, but it is stunningly diverse, featuring both lush forest and open plains beneath Mount Meru. It is one of Tanzania’s most popular spots for seeing the rare black-and-white colobus monkey. There is an extra touch to the experience, such as canoeing in the Momella Lakes or a short guided walk. You will spend the night once more at Under the Shade Lodge.

That’s where you go to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire has old baobab trees and a lot of elephants to see, which makes it a classic safari destination. In the dry season, the Tarangire River is a real meat pot for animals. Lions, leopards, giraffes, and thousands of birds come to the river. After your game drives, you’ll stay at Marera Valley Lodge, a relaxing lounge before Karatu that looks out over the rolling highlands.

The next stage of the safari is the heart, which includes three days in Serengeti National Park. Everyone knows about the endless plains of the Serengeti, as well as the Great Wildebeest Migration across the savannah. Whether during the migration or not, the Serengeti provides some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities year-round, with predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas present at all times. Spending your nights at Zuri Camps allows you to connect with nature while maintaining the comfort of evenings spent around a campfire under a starry sky.

This will be after your time in the Serengeti, followed by a visit to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The descent into the Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most memorable parts of any safari in Tanzania. This natural wonder has a high density of animals within its boundaries, including elephants, buffalo, hippos, and a good chance of seeing the endangered black rhino. You’ll spend the night again at Marera Valley Lodge.

Then take a safari to Lake Manyara National Park. The park is set against the backdrop of the great Rift Valley escarpment and is distinguished by a forest of lush groundwater and tree climbing lions. The lake is usually painted pink, and the flamingos, elephants, and giraffes roam the woodlands. Your final night will be spent at Under the Shade Lodge following your game drives, but after the visitors’ game drives are completed.

And on your final full day, you will drive back to Arusha. Depending on the time of departure, you may have time to explore the city, visit a local cultural market, or go on a coffee plantation tour. This will allow you to interact with the locals and learn about Tanzania outside of wildlife. Then you will take a taxi to Kilimanjaro International Airport to fly home.
