4 Days, 3 Night

Mount Meru is one of the main attractions in Arusha National Park. The full ascent takes at least three days. The three-day Mount Meru Trekking route takes climbers through a variety of natural environments, each with its own flora and fauna, as well as an intriguing blend of culture and nature.
Meru has one route to the top that can be attempted in three days, but we strongly recommend four days for acclimatization. Most alpine climbers use Meru to acclimatize before climbing Kilimanjaro. The mountain has less snow from the volcanic eruption.
Unlike Kilimanjaro, when climbing Mount Meru, you must be accompanied by an armed ranger(s) as you pass through Arusha National Park. At this point, you will enjoy the walking safari as you pass by groups of African buffaloes, zebras, and black and white colobus monkeys, to name a few animals..
Day 1
Arusha (1400m) – Miriakamba Hut (2500m)

Day 2
Miriakamba Hut (2500m) – Saddle Hut (3500m)
Duration : 3-5 hours of hiking
Meal Plan:Â Dinner
Day 3
Saddle Hut (3500m) – Summit Attempt (4566m) – Miriakamba Hut (2500m)
Duration: 12 – 14 Hours
Meal Plan: No Accomodation
After breakfast in Arusha, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. While you and your guide sign up with the Tanzania National Park (TANAPA), the porters will pack and organize your things for the hike. Then you will start to climb in Arusha National Park.
The first day of hiking is like a walking safari. You should see giraffes, zebras, antelope, buffalo, and maybe even elephants near the trail. Because there is a good chance of seeing wildlife, a National Park ranger with a gun must hike with our group the whole time. You will pass the Ngarenanyuki River and a beautiful waterfall at the base of Mt. Meru as you keep hiking. When you get to Miriakamba Hut (2500m), your chef will make you a hot meal and give you water to wash up. Enjoy the beautiful sunset and the night.
Duration : 5-7 hours of hiking
Elevation : 1500m/4921ft to 2500m/8202ft
Distance : 6km/3.5mi
You will begin climbing the steep trail along the saddle’s ridge after breakfast. Along the way, you might spot a variety of wildlife! The Ash Tray and Mt. Meru Crater are visible from the trail. To further acclimate, you can hike Little Mt. Meru (3820 m) with your guide once you get to camp.
In order to give you enough time to rest before your midnight summit attempt, you will be served an early dinner. Go to bed by 19:00!
Duration: 3-5 hours of hiking
Elevation: 2500m/8202ft to 3500m/11483ft
Distance: 6km/3.5mi
At 12:30 AM, your guide will wake you up for tea and biscuits. At 1:30 A.M., you will start your attempt to reach the summit. The path begins with a steep climb from Rhino Point (3800m) to Cobra Point (4350m). You will climb over rocks on a ridge between the crater and the inner cliffs of Meru in the last hour of the hike. You will reach the top of Meru (4565m) at sunrise, when you will have amazing views of Mt. Meru Ash Tray and Mt. Kilimanjaro. Take in the views, then head down to Saddle Hut for a short break. Before we continue down to the Momella gate, we stop for a short break and brunch at Saddle Hut. Your transfer vehicle will be waiting for you at the Momella gate to take you to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. This marks the end of your three-day trek up Mount Meru.
