This is a city at the base of Mount Meru that serves as the main entrance to Tanzania’s north safari circuit. You will be staying at Under the Shade, a quiet lodge on the outskirts of town where you can relax after your flight. Depending on how you arrive, you may take a stroll through the garden or go for a swim before dinner. Your guide will also brief you on the safari ahead.

In the morning, you’ll visit Lake Manyara National Park, where lions climb trees and flamingos flock in large numbers. The park features a variety of landscapes, including acacia woodland and underground spring-fed groundwater forests. When driving through the park, you might see elephants feeding under fig trees, giraffes exploring along the lakeside, and baboons crossing the road. This park will be especially appealing to birdwatchers, as more than 400 species have been observed. Later in the afternoon, you return to Eileen’s Tree Inn in Karatu, a small lodge in the green highlands near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The next three days will be spent in the Serengeti National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its massive migration and incredible concentration of animals. This trip begins with a picturesque drive through the Ngorongoro highlands, followed by your first game drive into the vast plains of the Serengeti.
During these days, you’ll drive around the park early and late, following the beat. They move more in the mornings, when predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards are active. The open plains are home to large herds of wildebeest and zebra, while the kopjes (rocky outcrops) serve as resting areas for big cats. You might also see elephants, buffaloes, and hyenas. Thousands of animals moved across the plains during the migration season, making it a sight to remember.
These nights will be spent at Zuri Camp, which is a tented lodge that will provide you with both comfort and the experience of being in nature. Camp evenings are memorable, with sundowners by the fire and camp stories told under the stars.
Accommodation: Zuri Camps
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

On day 6, we leave the Serengeti and head north through the highlands to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You descend 600 meters to Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. This natural wonder supports one of Africa’s densest populations of large mammals. Lions, black rhinos, hippos, wildebeest, and various antelope species are common sightings. There is also a salt lake, Lerai Forest, and grasslands on the crater floor, providing a variety of habitats on a small area.
One day of game viewing is followed by a trip to the crater rim and a return to the Tree Inn of Eileen at night.
Accommodation: Eileen’s Tree Inn
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

You drive to Arusha after breakfast. Depending on your flight schedule, you can enjoy short cultural or shopping experiences in town, such as visiting the local market or the Cultural Heritage Centre.
