SAFARI OVERVIEW

This is 8 Day safari itinerary, the safari will lead you to all necessary parts of the great wildebeest migration starting from Ngorongoro Crater (Ndutu), the central area of Serengeti called Seronera, to northwest Lobo heading to Kogatende which is the northern part of Serengeti. With this safari package, you will see the migration of wildebeest as the cross mara river, the hunting thrill of predictors such as crocodiles, lions, leopards, and cheetahs, different animal biodiversity, explore beautiful landscapes, scenic views of birds, big trees, and shrimps, birds of prey, different snakes, reptiles and so much more.

8 Days Wildebeest Migration Safari Itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and meet our representative followed by transfer to Arusha which will approximately be 1-hour drive.

Day 2: Arusha to Ngorongoro

Enjoy early morning after breakfast from the hotel then take 7 hours drive to Ngorongoro. Upon arrival, you will take a short game drive to Ndutu which lies at the boundary of southern Serengeti and Northeast of Ngorongoro. The area is very popular as it is a favorable place for calving around early January to late March. Afterward, you will descend to Ngorongoro Conservation. The crater is about 200 km across, 600 km deep, and 300 km in area, this breathtaking caldera was listed as one of the 8th wonders of the World by UNESCO. Deep within the crater, it is enclosed by towering walls, giving a great chance of spotting, The Big 5 Animals including Lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard, and other carnivorous animals, and a lot of birds and tree species.

Day 3: Ngorongoro to Serengeti

After an early breakfast, collect your packed lunch boxes and start an early game drive at Ngorongoro before heading to Serengeti for an Afternoon game drive. Today you will unwind on the endless plain that extends from the Ndutu area to southern Serengeti. Also, it should be known that the Ngorongoro conservation area is the only protected site that allows human settlement in the area so don’t be surprised to see a Maasai warrior wandering in the bush while on the safari.

Day 4: Central Serengeti

After an early breakfast, collect your packed lunch boxes and drive to Serengeti for a full-day game drive.
The name Serengeti is derived from the Maasai word *Siringeti* which means endless plains due to the presence of endless grass plains spread through the southern part of Serengeti National Park extending to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The park is famous for its annual migration (great migration of wildebeest) and it is one of the largest national parks in Tanzania with an area of 14,763 square km, Serengeti is home to an abundance of wildlife and is one of the few parks where you can spot the big 5 and many carnivores together with birds of prey.

Day 5: Central Serengeti to North Serengeti

On this day we’ll proceed to explore the north of the Seronera area known as Lobo. The area is normally en route by wildebeest annually around July to August as they make their way to Kenya Maasai Mara Game Reserved and turn back to southern Serengeti around late October to November.

DAY 6: North Serengeti

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in the western to Northwest part of Serengeti. A game drive around Lobo and the Grumeti River has it provides a passage route for the wildebeest migration throughout the year. Magnificent riverine trees can be seen along the river lines and bird species such as kingfishers and fish eagles can be spotted annually. As we head north, good sightings of giraffes, plain game, herds of buffalo, elephants, gazelle, zebra, lion, leopard, cheetah, and other non-migrating animals can often be seen.

DAY 7: Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti (Mara River)

Today, you’ll continue your Great Migration adventure in Serengeti National Park as we explore the key areas of migration such as the rim edge of Mara River hoping to capture a dramatic battle for wildebeest as they cross the river covered with crocodiles. This is where you get the true experience of the survival of the fittest as only strong capable wildebeest will pass through and join the herb heading to Maasai mara for the unfit and weak will be served as meal to the predator. Then, will head to central Serengeti

DAY 8: Serengeti to Arusha

After breakfast, we will proceed with an early morning game drive and see the Tanzanian wild animals as their most active during the cool morning hours. After the morning game drive, you will visit the central park of Serengeti through the plains and swamp area, and might spot multiple animals as they start their day afterward you will visit the Seronera visitors center for a lunch break and other necessary amenities such as washroom, shop, etc. while you’re at Seronera visitors center you with get more insight about Serengeti National Park and the Serengeti and Maasai mara ecosystem from the local guides, then game drive to the park will be proceed

Later drive back to Arusha to depart back home or have an option to unwind on the tropical beaches of Zanzibar Island.
