Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park

Today, your adventure leads to the breathtaking Lake Manyara National Park, a hidden treasure celebrated for its shimmering soda lake often blanketed in a vivid pink carpet of thousands of flamingos. This compact yet incredibly diverse park boasts a stunning mosaic of habitats—from dense groundwater forests and acacia woodlands to open grasslands and the lake’s alkaline shores—creating one of Tanzania’s most varied safari landscapes.

While you’re almost guaranteed to spot large herds of elephants, graceful giraffes, plains game such as zebra and wildebeest, and pods of hippos wallowing in the shallows, the park’s superstar attraction remains its famous tree-climbing lions. These rare, acrobatic big cats are often found draped lazily over the branches of sausage and acacia trees—an unusual behavior seen in very few places on earth. Your expert guide will skillfully track them, giving you the best chance to witness this extraordinary and unforgettable spectacle.

As the sun begins to dip, you’ll head back to the serene comfort of Baghayo Garden Suites for a relaxing evening and a peaceful overnight stay.

We’ll drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, soaking in the views before making our official entry into the Serengeti. Your time here is spent on thrilling game drives, with each morning and afternoon offering a fresh opportunity to witness the drama of the wild. Lions on the hunt, cheetahs in full sprint, and the graceful movements of wildebeest and zebras are just a few of the sights that await you. Your stay at Conserve Safari Camp provides a classic safari experience, offering comfortable tents with all the necessary amenities, allowing you to feel completely connected to the surrounding wilderness. The high density of wildlife, including the rare black rhinoceros, makes for an unforgettable game-viewing experience. You’ll spend the day exploring the crater floor, surrounded by stunning scenery and the sheer abundance of life. Afterward, you’ll ascend the crater rim and drive to Marera Valley Lodge, where you can enjoy breathtaking views and the peaceful atmosphere of the highlands.

En route or upon arrival in Arusha, you’ll have the flexibility to choose from a variety of optional activities tailored to your interests: immerse yourself in Tanzania’s world-famous coffee culture with a guided tour of a local plantation, wander through the bustling stalls of Arusha’s vibrant central market in search of handmade crafts and souvenirs, stroll the lively streets of this charming town, or simply relax and reflect on your extraordinary journey.
