Nairobi City Tour

Home » Nairobi City Tour
Starting from/returning to Nairobi hotels
We’ll pick you up from your Nairobi hotel or directly from the airport at 8:00 am. Your full-day adventure is conducted in a private pop-top safari minivan for comfort, great views, and flexible photography stops.
Kenya is celebrated for its world-class parks and safari destinations—but few travelers realize that Nairobi itself is one of East Africa’s most exciting wildlife and cultural hubs. Just minutes from the city center, you can hand-feed giraffes, watch rescued baby elephants, and walk through the historic home of Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa.
Join Kiwoito Africa Safaris for a full-day Nairobi city tour that blends wildlife encounters, history, culture, and local craftsmanship—perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers.

Tour Attractions & Activities

1. Karen Blixen Museum

We begin at the legendary Karen Blixen Museum, the original farmhouse featured in the Hollywood film Out of Africa, starring Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.
Nestled at the foot of the Ngong Hills, this former coffee plantation is where Karen Blixen wrote her world-famous memoirs and lived with hunter Denys Finch-Hatton.
During your guided tour, you will:
  • Explore the elegant colonial-era rooms.
  • View original artifacts and props from the movie.
  • Learn about Karen Blixen’s life and Kenya’s early colonial history.
The serene gardens and scenic landscapes make this a perfect first stop of the day.

2. David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

Next, we visit the world-renowned David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, home to rescued orphaned baby elephants.
Here, you’ll experience:
  • Baby elephants being bottle-fed
  • Young elephants play, rolling in the mud, and interacting with their keepers.
  • Heartwarming stories of rescue, rehabilitation, and release
For more than 40 years, the Sheldrick family has rescued and raised over 200 elephant orphans, making it one of Africa’s most impactful wildlife conservation programs.

Lunch at Karen Blixen Coffee Garden

After an eventful morning, enjoy a relaxing lunch at the peaceful Karen Blixen Coffee Garden, known for its charming atmosphere, delicious cuisine, and lush greenery.

3. Giraffe Centre

Our safari continues to the Giraffe Centre, a sanctuary for the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe. Visitors can climb the raised platform to:
  • Hand-feed the giraffes
  • Take close-up photos
  • Learn about giraffe conservation.
  • (Optional!) Receive a playful “giraffe kiss”
This is a favorite stop for both adults and children.

4. Kazuri Beads Women’s Cooperative

We end the day at Kazuri Beads, a world-famous ceramic bead and jewelry workshop founded in 1975 to empower disadvantaged women.
During your visit, you can:
  • Watch artisans create intricate handmade beads.
  • Learn about Kazuri’s inspiring story of women’s empowerment.
  • Shop for unique souvenirs to support local craftswomen
Every piece of Kazuri jewelry is “small and beautiful,” just like its Swahili name.
