Day 1: Arrival in Arusha and Safari in Tarangire National Park

After arriving in Arusha, your journey begins with a drive to Tarangire National Park. This park is often referred to as the land of giants because of its impressive baobab trees and large herds of elephants. During the game drive, you will also spot giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and predators such as lions resting in the shade.

Bird enthusiasts appreciate Tarangire for its more than 400 recorded species, including colorful lovebirds and the striking yellow-collared stork. By late afternoon, you return to Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay at Country lodge, a comfortable base with views of Karatu.

Day 2–3: Serengeti National Park

The following morning, the road leads to Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the Great Migration. Spanning endless savannahs, Serengeti is where you witness nature at its rawest. Depending on the season, you may see thousands of wildebeests and zebras moving across the plains, pursued by predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Even outside migration months, the park guarantees sightings of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and hippos.

Your accommodation at Into Wild Africa Camp offers a close-to-nature experience, with tents positioned to let you listen to the distant roars of lions or the calls of hyenas at night. Two days in Serengeti give you enough time for both morning and afternoon game drives, maximizing your chance to see the Big Five and to appreciate the park’s changing landscapes, from acacia woodlands to open grasslands.

Accommodation: Into the wild camp

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater

On the fourth day, the safari continues to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The crater, a massive volcanic caldera, shelters an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. It is one of the few places where you have a high chance of spotting black rhinos. The floor of the crater supports grazing animals such as gazelles, wildebeests, and zebras, while its freshwater lakes attract flamingos and hippos. Lions and hyenas are also abundant here.

A full game drive inside the crater offers unforgettable photography opportunities. By evening, you drive back to Arusha Planet Lodge, where you can rest before your beach holiday.

Accommodation: Planet Lodge

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5–7: Zanzibar Island Tour

The final leg of your journey takes you to Zanzibar, reached by a short flight from Arusha. The island welcomes you with turquoise waters and a relaxed pace of life. For three days, you stay at Nungwi Beach Resort, located on the northern tip of Zanzibar where the tides are less extreme, making it perfect for swimming and water sports.

Your time here can be spent exploring the spice farms that gave Zanzibar its name as the Spice Island, visiting Stone Town with its rich Swahili and Arab history, or simply enjoying the calm of the ocean. Snorkeling and diving trips offer a glimpse into coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, while sunset cruises on traditional dhows provide a peaceful close to each day.

Why Choose This Itinerary

Seven days are enough to experience both the thrill of an African safari and the serenity of an island retreat. Each park has been chosen for its unique ecosystem, ensuring variety in wildlife sightings. The blend of authentic lodges and tented camps gives you comfort without removing the sense of adventure. Ending in Zanzibar ensures you return home rested, with memories of both wildlife encounters and beach relaxation.
