DAY TRIP TO CHEMKA HOT SPRINGS

FROM $.100 PER PERSON/ $150 FOR 2 PERSONS

Located about 40kilometres from Moshi town 1.5 hrs drive from Moshi town, 69 km from Arusha town, about 2 hours drive from Arusha. Locally called Chemka, meaning boiling, this refers to the way in which the water appears to boil as it emerges from underground. In fact, the water is not hot rather it is a pleasant temperature. Chemka oasis is a unique phenomenon where the groundwater interacted with geothermal sources forming natural swimming pools, this is a good place to visit for a picnic and swimming too. The views of Kilimanjaro on a clear day are also special. Unfortunately, the water is full of fluoride which means the local people can’t use it for drinking.  The crystal-clear, turquoise waters surrounded by palm trees and winding roots offer a picturesque spot for a relaxing afternoon swim.

The spring is really big about 6 to 10 meters deep in some places although you can see the bottom through the crystal clear waters. Enjoy swimming with small fishes which are licking your feet.

This most exciting place for swimming, you can spend the full day and enjoy Tanzania’s local food, barbeque, fruits, and local drinks.

COSTS INCLUDES

  • Transport
  • Entrance fees & government taxes
  • Local food
  • Swimming gears
